Bobby had worked in Birmingham for many years where she was a clinical physiotherapy manager and a lecturer practitioner with the University of Birmingham.  She moved to Devon in 2000, working initially as an out-patient superintendent.  In June 2003 she was appointed this country's first upper limb consultant physiotherapist.  In the same year she received a Robert Williams award, to present her research on the use of ultrasound in treating shoulder pain at the World Physiotherapy Conference in Barcelona.  In May 2004 she presented the results of her work on the management of massive cuff tears at the International Congress of shoulder surgeons and therapists in Washington.  In 2005 Bobby was awarded a Fellowship by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy for her work in musculoskeletal care.  In 2006 she was appointed to the Secretary of State for Health's clinical sounding board.  In June 2007 she presented a systematic review of exercise therapy for the conservative management of full thickness rotator cuff tears at the World Physiotherapy Conference in Vancouver.

In 2009 Bobby completed a Professional Doctorate in Health Science.  Her thesis was a randomised placebo controlled clinical trial of a rehabilitation programme for patients with a diagnosis of massive irreparable rotator cuff tears of the shoulder.  In 2009 Bobby became chair of the consultant physiotherapist network and was on the project board for the Department of Health Allied Health Professionals leadership challenge.

Bobby lectured widely on shoulder problems and on the consultant role and was an honorary lecturer at the Universities of Plymouth and Birmingham.  In 2009 she developed and taught the Injection Therapy Masters Module for the University of Plymouth.  She has published a number of articles about the management of rotator cuff problems and the development of musculoskeletal services.

Bobby is married with a son, daughter and step-daughter, and four grand-children.  Her interests include running (with her Labradoodle), painting, surfing and bridge.
